Teaching

My method is playful, collaborative, and constructive. I’ve had the great privilege to teach, coach, and direct in all kinds of theaters and classrooms with a wide range of age groups.
Examples include:
-
Mindfulness through puppetry with pre-K
-
Public speaking and teamwork through improvisation with 4th-8th graders
-
Characterization, ensemble building, dialects, and movement through workshopping old and new material with high schoolers
-
Environmental science, climate advocacy, and regenerative agriculture to students and adults with special needs and abilities
Connecting others to their environment (on and off stage), and helping others use creative expression to convey their ideas and feelings bring me the utmost fulfillment.
Some life-changing experiences:

An essential grassroots non-profit & food advocacy collective focused on providing sustenance, ppe, and supplies for rallies and marches at the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic. We organized and managed healing centered community events, as well as prepared and provided nourishment for 120+ cyclists riding 300+ miles from NY to DC (Ride to DC) in honor and elevation of Black Lives.

Taught about climate advocacy and regenerative agriculture to youth K-12 in Sharon Massachusetts with a residency at Ward’s Berry Farm. Developed an integrated curriculum-themed tractor ride (captained by yours truly) around the farm. Created programs specialized for adults on the spectrum and devised new modules to make in the field learning accessible and meaningful.

Served as an Assistant Drama Teacher (alongside Krysten Schmelzer), After-School Specialist, and Substitute for students in grades K-8. Focused on using play therapy as a technique to help kiddos harness their inner confidence and express themselves freely. Found success with original characters Pearl and Bug - two puppets with lovable, chaotic personalities that reflected some of the characteristics and behavioral tendencies of the students.
